List type articles usually want to highlight “the best” glamping spots but this one will not be one of those. There are just so many great camping and glamping spots around Melbourne and for that matter all over Victoria, we would be doing a disservice to our readers by trying to list “the best”. What we are going to do is a series of articles that list five “great” glamping spots near all the Capital cities and once we have gone through all the capitals we will start on the regional centres.
We have defined near as an comfortable drive from Melbourne. Victoria has the great fortune of being one of Australia’s smaller states and makes this easy for us. What it might lack in size it gains in amazing easy to reach glamping locations. These spots are not in any particular order.
1) Happy Glamper : Mornington Peninsula
So we are going to start with the only property we haven’t featured before in Glamping Australia, “Happy Glamper”. This great little company doesn’t have a site, it has many sites. It has a number of recommended glamping spots on the Mornington peninsular. We won’t be listing all the possible glamping spots but just to name a few of our favourites.
Happy Glamper offers two types of tent, the Bell Tent which come in three sizes, 4 meter bell tent which is great for couples, 5 meter bell tent which is perfect for small groups or families and the 6 meter Emperor bell tent which can be booked for groups. However, we recommend you try the Lotus bell tents. They offer more headroom and derive inspiration for the Mongolian Yurt and make you feel like you are somewhere even more exotic than the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
If you are a reluctant camper then let Happy Glamper Mornington Peninsula take out the hard work of setting up the tents, bedding and linen. Just pick a spot and show up, let happy Glamper do the rest.
2) Phillip Island Glamping
We have featured Phillip Island Glamping (click for full details) before and similar to Happy Glamper above they offer a glamping service but as the name implies they service Phillip Island. Most Australians know of Phillip Island due to the MotoGP Phillip Island or because of the Fairy Penguins but Victorians know it is one of the most gorgeous holiday spots in Victoria.
Phillip Island Glamping will set up a Luxury bell Tent at one of three locations (2 sizes). You can choose either Cowes Foreshore Tourist Park, San Remo Holiday Park or Big4 Phillip Island . If you haven’t been to any of these spots before then look them up on the web. Whichever you choose you will not be disappointed, they are all great. Ask for views of the beach.
3) Cape Conran Glamping : Wilderness Retreat
Cape Conran Coastal Park is a coastal reserve located in East Gippsland in Victoria. The last time we featured Cape Conran Wilderness Retreat we got a huge response on social media. People liked the Cape Conran eco-friendly approach to glamping and that some of the tents have easy wheel chair access. The park offers many different types of accommodation but the luxury glamping tents are amazing.
There is a amenities block with shower facilities close by as well as a communal kitchen with gas cook top, microwave oven, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. Cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are all provided for you. There’s also an outdoor bbq area. The tents are fully insect and wildlife proof. it is such a pristine part of Australia that you will be exposed to the flora and fauna the whole time you are awake but the tents ensure that you are not disturbed while you sleep.
